LAHORE - PML-N Quaid Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that the continuity of 'Bush and Mush policy is basic cause behind prompt rise in terrorism. His stance has also been endorsed by delegation of five different countries. Nawaz Sharif linked phasing out of terrorism with development and diplomacy and advised US President to change drone policy forthwith as it was counter-productive. He expressed these views while talking to US delegation including three congressmen and two senators who called on him at his residence in Raiwind here on Wednesday. Shahbaz Sharif, Sartaj Aziz and Ch Nisar Ali Khan were also present on the occasion. Wide-ranging discussions, during the meeting that continued for more than two hours, covered drone attacks, Pakistan reservations on them, steps towards Pak-US relations and new Obama policy against terrorism. He urged US President Barack Obama to part ways with the Bush administration policy to combat terrorism. 'Diplomacy and development should be put on high priority, Nawaz said. He strongly opposed drone attacks, saying Pakistans sovereignty must be respected. He called upon the nation to get united to deal with the prevailing challenges. He stressed the need for stabilising the country on economic and political fronts. PML-N also hosted a lunch in the honour of the foreign delegates of five countries who endorsed the stance of PML-N chief Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif against Drone attacks being carried out by America as an attempt to curb the terrorism. A 5-member delegation hailing from Portugal, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Cuba also called on Nawaz Sharif at his residence and supported Nawaz point of view that the US had been violating the geographical boundaries of Pakistan through Drone attacks. They underlined the need for charting out joint strategy to combat terrorism, as the menace was not deadly lethal for integrity of Pakistan but the entire world. Meanwhile, PML-N advisory meeting, presided by Mian Nawaz Sharif, was held here on Wednesday. Chief minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif, Sartaj Aziz, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Tariq Fatmi were present on the occasion. In this meeting, Nawaz exchanged views regarding the present situation of the country and recent meetings with Richard Halbrooke, Admiral Mike Mullen, US Ambassador Anne W Patterson, the US Congress members and the Senators. The meeting also decided to constitute the committees comprising MPAs and MNAs to improve transparency in the development works in Punjab. Sources said that party had planned to deliberate over the future of local bodies but it was shelved from the agenda of the meeting due to one and another reason. During the meeting Nawaz said judiciary would provide justice to the nation in real sense following the reinstatement of the deposed judges. However, it is imperative that Parliament should have its role in appointment of judges. He said he would file an appeal in the Supreme Court in connection with the eligibility case and appear in the court as his demand for restoration of judiciary had been met. Regarding the joining of the Punjab govt by the PPP, he said that whatever decision made by the PPP would be respected.
