Petitioner asked to submit rejoinder

KARACHI - Sindh High Court has asked the petitioner to submit rejoinder within fifteen days after having information through Foreign Ministry on Wednesday that the family of Pakistani citizen Saifullah Paracha has telephonic contact with Paracha, a detainee in Guantanamo Bay. As per detail, Deputy Attorney General Nazar Akbar appeared before the division bench of Sindh High Court comprising Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Safdar Bhutto on behalf of the foreign office, and submitted that Saifullah had telephonic contact with his family members. DAG claimed that the government was aware of the situation, but did not find it plausible to intervene or reveal the matter. According to the petitioner, Saifullah had been arrested from Hong Kong in 2003 when he was on business tour and later; he was shifted to Guantanabo Bay prison. After hearing his comments, the court directed to Nisar A. Mujahid Advocate who appeared on behalf of the petitioner Farhat Paracha, wife of Saifullah, to submit rejoinder before the bench in the next hearing. The petitioner also mentioned in the petition that the initiatives have been taking by the government to get the five Pakistani detainees at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba released as soon as possible. Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani have also discussed the matter with US higher authorities during his visit to USA in July 2008. Besides, the Ambassador has also been discussing the issue with the concerned US authorities. The plaintiff respondents to Federal Government through Cabinet Secretary, Interior Ministry, Foreign Ministry, Director Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director General of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Director of Quid-a-Azam International Airport, Senior Air Traffic Control Officer, Thai Airways International, Thai Ambassador in Pakistan, In charge of Visa Section of Thai Embassy, Director Emigration and Passport Circle of FIA, Deputy Director Emigration of FIA, Commandant Airport Security Force of Quid-a-Azam, Sindh Home Ministry, Inspector General of Sindh Police and DIG of Special Branch of police.
