President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday called upon the government to urgently take appropriate steps to fulfill the promise made in his address to the Parliament by urgently initiating the process for implementing the Charter of Democracy. In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister today, the President said that whatever is required for implementing the Charter of Democracy, whether by way of repealing some sections in the Legal Framework Order, 2002, and the Constitution (17th Amendment) Act, 2003, or amending other Acts is the prerogative of the Parliament and is better left to it to decide in its collective wisdom, the Presidents spokesperson Farhatullah Babar said.
