LAHORE-Members of unification bloc, a new nomenclature for PML-Qs forward bloc in Punjab Assembly, called on Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal on Wednesday in his chamber, and presented him an application signed by 49 assembly members, seeking nomination of Dr Tahir Ali Javed as their parliamentary leader. Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly, Rana Mashhood and Law Minister Rana Sana Ullah were also present on the occasion. In their application, the members have stated that they had elected Dr Tahir Ali Javed as their parliamentary leader, and hence he may be nominated as parliamentary leader of the unification bloc. The speaker told them that he would take decision on the application after thorough examination in the light of rules and regulations. Later, talking to the media, Rana Iqbal said that he never asked any assembly member to join any party or change his loyalties with his parent party. I have been maintaining complete impartiality as Speaker from the very beginning, as all assembly members are equal before me, he concluded. It may be noted that members of unification bloc met on Tuesday and elected Dr. Tahir Ali Javed as their parliamentary leader instead of Attar Monika who had been leading this parliamentary group since its formation. As per sources, Attar Monika was persuaded by Kawaka Ahmad Hasan and Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khosa to show magnanimity and withdraw in favour of Dr. Tahir, as certain quarters (not from within PML-N) waned this guy to head the new group. Manika agreed, but he was not happy with the decision, sources further said.
