The computer technology has made great strides but the National Saving Centres are still in the stone age. It is a torture for the investors to do any transaction in any of their branches. To make a deposit or draw profit, customers have to set aside two to three hours minimum. The staff also behaves like typical government officials. One fails to understand why can't the department automate its working and adopt one-window mode of operation. The department should be ashamed of its poor working, inefficiency, ineffectiveness and incompetence. The government must induct progressive and forward-looking management who is committed to making a change. The present lot reflects poorly on a countrywide organization. -MOHAMMAD YASIN, Rawalpindi, via e-mail, March 31.
