Bird-hit PIA flight lands safely

LAHORE - A PIA flight yesterday landed safely at the Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport after it was hit by a bird shortly before taking off.

The Lahore-bound flight of Pakistan International Airline was coming from Abu Dhabi. The PK-264 was preparing for landing at the altitude of a few hundred feet when a bird hit its screen.

No damage was reported to the aircraft, according to sources in the airport security force.

The national flag carrier has been facing strong criticism after its ATR aircraft crashed near Abbottabad, leaving all 47 persons dead including five crew members.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has ordered an inquiry to investigate the plan crash. The interior minister has also formed a five-member committee to probe the incident.
