ISLAMABAD - A senior level meeting to probe into the unpleasant incident that happened on 4th February during the National Assembly proceedings, decided to issue letters to two opposition members Syed Naveed Qamar (PPP-P), Ch. Hamid Hameed (PML-N) and one member from treasury benches Attaullah (PTI).
The committee meeting, chaired by National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, issued letters under Rule 21 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly 2007 to three MNAs on an unpleasant incident in the house.
The meeting was participated by Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Khan Suri, Secretary National Assembly, Advisor to Speaker on legal and Constitutional Affairs and other senior officers of the Secretariat.
The National Assembly, on 4th February, had witnessed scuffle, use of abusive language and incident against the sanctity of the house.
The speaker after thorough examination of the record of proceedings and evidence expressed his resolve to maintain sanctity of the House at every cost without prejudice and pressure. The speaker said that incident which took place on last Thursday [4thFebruary] was highly condemnable. He said that as the custodian of the National Assembly of Pakistan, he would take appropriate action to maintain the order in the House, and to regulate the proceedings of the House in accordance with parliamentary practices and the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007.
He said that all members of the assembly belonging to treasury or the opposition benches are under obligation to obey rules of the National Assembly and maintain decorum of the House in order to preserve sanctity of prestige of the House.
