Safdar seeks security

Peshawar - PML-N leader Capt (Retd) Muhammad Safdar Awan, spouse of Maryam Nawaz Sharif, approached the Peshawar police on Monday demanding security to protect himself and family.

Safdar appeared before the NAB authorities in Peshawar several times recently. The PML-N leader sought security after an attack on him and his spouse in Lahore, Punjab. He alleged that he was attacked twice at the behest of NAB chairman and the prime minister. He filed an application against chairman NAB, and an advisor to the prime minister.

He said their armoured car was damaged when he and his wife Maryam Nawaz were attacked. He said he respected the NAB KP authorities but that he was felt threatened from the Bureau’s chairman.

He further said the NAB chairman could not answer his questions about his residence in the Bahria Town.

Discussing the Senate elections, he said: “PTI fears the disloyalty of its members in Senate balloting, this is why the government issued the ordinance.”

He said that two senior lawyers had appealed to the apex court against the Presidential Ordinance regarding Senate polls.
