Islamabad - Following consultations with local authorities, Cambridge and the British Council have announced the cancellation of all Cambridge O Level, IGCSE, and International AS and A Level exams scheduled for 9 May (Friday), in Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Islamabad Capital Territory, and Punjab province due to security concerns.
This decision affects both Cambridge Direct and British Council schools in the affected regions. Exams in other parts of Pakistan are expected to proceed as scheduled, provided the security situation remains stable. Cambridge emphasized that the safety of students and staff remains its top priority.
“We understand the disruption this causes, but we have well-established procedures to ensure fair grading where exams are cancelled, so students can continue their education without disadvantage,” a spokesperson said.
An update regarding exams scheduled for Monday, 12 May, will be provided to schools by the evening of Sunday, 11 May.
Students and families are urged to follow only official Cambridge and British Council Pakistan channels for the latest updates. Private candidates are advised to contact British Council Customer Services for assistance.
