DG ISPR to brief foreign media on escalating Pakistan-India tensions

ISPR Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry will brief foreign media on escalating tensions between Pakistan and India, with top Air Force and Navy officials also addressing the situation.

According to security sources, Pakistan has shot down 77 Indian drones in recent days, with 29 downed by the evening of May 8 and an additional 48 destroyed overnight.

Drones were intercepted over multiple cities, including Okara, Vehari, and Pakpattan.

Lt Gen Chaudhry stated that Pakistan’s air defence systems tracked each drone via radar and followed a strict operational protocol to neutralize threats, especially in civilian areas and near commercial flight paths. “Our air defence can detect even small drones,” he said.

Defence experts reiterated the strength and effectiveness of Pakistan’s response, highlighting that enemy incursions were consistently repelled. The Federal Information Minister, Atta Tarar, confirmed a Herop drone was downed in Bahawalnagar and praised the military’s “agile and effective” air defence.

Despite sustained drone activity, the ISPR DG reported only one incident of injuries—four soldiers were wounded, and minor system damage occurred in Lahore. However, three civilians lost their lives in the strikes.

Lt Gen Chaudhry also dismissed Indian claims that Pakistan had targeted 15 sites across India, calling it baseless propaganda.
