Nestle contributes food items for quake victims

KARACHI - Nestle Pakistan contributed essential food items as a way of providing indispensable aid to the victims of the recent earthquake in Ziarat, Baluchistan. Nestle Pakistan's contribution comes at a crucial time for the survivors of the earthquake, who are mainly affected by cold weather, lack of shelter, warm clothing, acute shortage of food supplies and medical aid. While sustaining its obligation towards social responsibility, Nestle Pakistan organized a consignment of Nestle Pure Life, UHT Milk, Nido Milk Powder and Maggi Noodles for distribution among approximately 700 families in the affected area of Ziarat, including the remotest of the calamity hit areas. The activity was conducted in collaboration with the international NGO SUSG-CAsia's Habitat and Species Conservation Project for the immediate distribution of these food items. Among other charitable activities, the company has also established a relief fund for donations by its employees on volunteer basis, while additional consignments of necessary supplies are being prepared for distribution amongst deserving victims. The high magnitude earthquake was of disastrous proportions and so far 300 people have been reported dead, over 35,000 homeless and 400 injured, with continued after shocks adding to the misery of those affected. Moreover, the arrival of harsh winter conditions in Ziarat signals the limited time left to help survivors, thus increasing the need for immediate relief.
