Out-of-box solutions needed to overcome energy crisis: Zardari

ISLAMABAD (APP) - President Asif Ali Zardari has said that the energy security in Pakistan is critical and we should devise a comprehensive plan in this regard through devising innovative and out-of-box solutions to overcome the prevailing energy crisis. He made these remarks during a presentation on the use of ethanol as fuel here today, says a press release. Earlier a presentation was made in which it was told that ethanol can be used as a fuel, mainly as a biofuel alternative to gasoline, and is widely used in different parts of the world. It is easy to manufacture and can be made from very common crops such as sugar cane and corn and is an increasingly common alternative to gasoline. Ethanol is considered renewable because it is primarily the result of conversion of the sun's energy into usable energy. Ethanol is most commonly used to power automobiles, though it may be used to power other vehicles, such as farm tractors and airplanes. Pakistan can produce additional 160,000 tons fuel without losing additional dollars on import.
