MIRPUR (AJK)-Jammu and Kashmir National Front (JKNF) Vice Chairman Altaf Hussain Wani termed India’s move to appoint former Intelligence Bureau director Dineshwar Sharma as interlocutor for Jammu & Kashmir a divisionary tactic to hoodwink the Kashmiris.
He said that by initiating a futile exercise, India was playing with the sentiments of the people of Kashmir.
Talking to this Correspondent, Wani said that bilateralism has miserably failed to resolve the long running dispute. Stressing the need for an inclusive dialogue on Kashmir, the leader observed that implementing the UN proposed road map was the only way forward to resolve the long-drawn conflict that has been bedeviling the relations between the two countries.
Instead of resorting to old tactics of dillydallying, he said that India should accept the ground reality and pave the way for dialogues on the Kashmir issue by involving key stakeholders Pakistan and the people of Kashmir in the process.
Referring to the history of bilateral negotiations between Pakistan, India and Kashmiri representatives, Wani said that history bears witness to the fact that these talks in the past have badly failed to yield positive result. Terming Sharma’s visit to Kashmir as a futile exercise he said that the half-hearted approach by New Delhi to engage with non-stakeholders was bound to fail. Indian dialogue offer, he said, was deep-rooted conspiracy to undermine the international stature of the dispute.
“It is simply a ploy to hoodwink international community besides creating chaos and confusion among the masses,” he said. “The people of Kashmir have rendered huge sacrifices for their inalienable right to self-determination.” He said that they would never compromise on their basic right guaranteed to them by international community.
