Hafeez for enhancement of Pak-US economic coop

ISLAMABAD (APP) - Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance on Friday stressed the need for enhancement of mutual cooperation between Pakistan and the United States, in the economic assistance programme, so that the deserving projects receive due priorities. He stated this while talking to Jacob J. Lew, US Deputy Secretary of State for Resources and Management, who called on him here. During the meeting Jacob J. Lew was briefed about the state of Pakistans economy by various Federal Secretaries of economic ministries. Speaking to the visiting US Deputy Secretary of State Dr. Hafeez Shaikh appreciated the role of US assistance in the economic development of Pakistan. He stressed the need for enhancement of mutual cooperation between the two countries, in the economic assistance programme, so that the deserving projects receive due priorities. In this regard, he underlined the need for US assistance in development of energy and agriculture sectors. Appreciating Pakistans recent economic achievements, Jacob J. Lew said that the real objective of US economic assistance to Pakistan is the solution of economic problems of common man. He assured Dr Hafeez Shaikh of his governments continued assistance in the economic development process of Pakistan.
