ISLAMABAD  -  B.A. Nasir, a senior Grade-22 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), on Wednesday assumed office as the 24th Inspector General of the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP).

Nasir was previously serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Communications and has held several key positions in law enforcement and administration, including CCPO Lahore, Additional IG Special Branch, and Police Reforms Advisor under the United Nations Police Division.

He was welcomed with a formal guard of honour at NHMP headquarters in Islamabad, where senior officials briefed him on operational priorities. In his address, the new IG emphasised integrity, road safety, and commuter assistance as the department’s top responsibilities. “This institution is a source of pride for Pakistan, recognised globally for its integrity,” he stated. He announced plans to strengthen training programmes, integrate modern technology for highway safety, and enforce axle-load regulations. Employee welfare initiatives and public service delivery were also highlighted as key areas of focus.

Nasir later visited the Martyrs’ Memorial, laid flowers, and offered prayers in tribute to fallen officers.
