Nadra to provide free duplicate ID cards in flood-hit areas

ISLAMABAD (APP) - National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has announced to provide free of cost duplicate Identity Cards (ID) cards to flood affected citizens to speed up governments efforts for the rehabilitation and relief. Deputy Chairman Nadra Tariq Malik said Nadra aim to provide free duplicate CNICs to the citizens affected and displaced due to flood and they do not need to bring any document to approach Nadra Mobile Registration Vans and Manpack units to apply for CNICs. Malik disclosed that Nadras software engineers developed the software, which would capture name, fathers name, date of birth, address and biometric information of the affected people and will locate lost CNIC. Mobile Registration Vans (MRVs) fitted with state-of-art computer and communication equipment were being deployed along with manpack units. He emphasised that this service was only for those citizens, who were hit by flood. The data of affected people is secured and there is no chance of misuse, he added. He maintained that efforts would be made for speedy delivery of ID cards and distribution of CNICs would be made on the same location where CNICs application would be processed. The deputy chairman said Nadra regional offices are coordinating with provincial and local administration of the area and identifying the relief camps. He said Nadra offices, centres and installations established in the affected areas have also witnessed a great damage while the impact is being assessed. He said centres of Nadra in Charsadda, Nowshera, Mad-ain, Iilai, Kohsitan and Auch were completely destroyed w-hile mobile units in Charsadda, Nowshera and Kohistan were totally damaged. While instructing the Nadra staff, he said this catastrophe poses a challenge and demands extra efforts and support for the rehabilitation of people.
