ISLAMABAD - Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) that is investigating important scams like Haj, NICL and others in a bid to revive its reputation eclipsed during the last three years, has decided to launch a campaign against corruption, financial crimes, proclaimed offenders, human traffickers and smugglers. The decision was taken in the Directors Conference convened here on Tuesday at the FIA Headquarters under the chairmanship of Director General FIA, Syed Tahisn Anwar Ali Shah, says a press release issued by the Ministry of Interior. Additional Director Generals, Zonal Directors and wing directors of FIA Headquarters attended the event. Secretary Interior, K.M. Siddique Akbar paid the introductory visit to FIA HQ. A consolidated presentation on the performance of all wings of FIA was presented to him. Detailed discussion was conducted on daunting issues including logistics and enhancement of the performance. On the occasion the Secretary Interior pledged his support on salary package of FIA staff and to make it at par with all other law enforcement agencies. He also advocated the increase in Shuhada package, vehicles, arms & ammunition and manpower of the agency. Zonal Directors of Sindh, Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, presented the individual performance of their zones. Interactive question and answer session was conducted at the end of each presentation. The Director General FIA made observations on the issues and performance of the zonal offices. The chair ordered all Zonal directors to launch campaign against corruption and proclaimed offenders, human traffickers, smugglers and financial crimes. He stressed on need to complete the pending cases in minimum time to present the challans in trial courts. Issues like revamping of FIA and provision of adequate resources were also examined. The directives to restore the FIA Helpline at each station were given to all respective zonal directors. Concrete measures will be taken to uplift the organization repute of FIA by promoting the motto of professionalism.
