ISLAMABAD - Pakistan People's Party has formally launched Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in the national politics at a difficult time and he has been holding the fort since the departure of his father to Dubai for treatment under the patronage of Premier Gilani, a seasoned politician and Zardari's loyalist. Sources in the party said that it was also decided by the party high command that till the time President Zardari return, the party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would be kept in the limelight just to give confidence to party workers and activists and to dispel the impression that the party leadership could not withstand the mounting pressure on it due to a number of accounts including the probe into memo controversy. Although the decision of awarding of party ticket to Moosa Gilani, son of Premeir Gilani, to contest elections on National Assembly seat from NA-148, vacated by Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, was taken by President Zardari, yet the announcement in this connection was made by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari just to give the impression that he was fully capable of handling the situation. Against the same backdrop, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Friday chaired separate meetings with delegations of People's Student Federation, People's Labour Bureau and People's Women Wing and listened to their problems. Talking to these delegations, he vowed to serve the masses following in the footsteps of his mother Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, who sacrificed her life for the cause of people. He said the PPP would not hesitate to offer any sacrifice for promotion of democracy and prosperity of the country. He recalled that his maternal grandfather former prime minister Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had successfully fought for the masses rights. He said his mother Shaheed Benazir Bhutto sacrificed her life for the cause of people and he vowed to follow in her footsteps to serve the masses. He also vowed to make Punjab the citadel of PPP, saying that the people of Punjab were with the PPP and the party would continue helping them winning their basic rights. He urged the people to pray for the speedy recovery of his father President Asif Ali Zardari.
