ISLAMABAD - The cases against Maulana Abdul Aziz, the former Khateeb of Lal Masjid, should be abolished as the cases have been withdrawn against PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari under the National Reconciliation Ordinance. Several thousand female students rallied at Lal Masjid on Wednesday and vowed to raise their children for jihad (holy war).
Umme Hassan, wife of Maulana Abudu Aziz, demanded here Wednesday at Shuhada-e-Lal Masjid Conference for Women, which was attended by thousands of female students from different seminaries, including Jamia Hafsa students. The conference was held at the site of demolished Jamia Hafsa in connection with the one year of Lal Masjid Operation.
Addressing the students she said, "We are wandering in the courts for last one year to get justice but the courts have been sold". If the case of Maulana Abdul Aziz cannot be dismissed then Zardari should also be brought to the court, she demanded.
Commenting on a statement of the Punjab IGP wherein he alleged that Umme Hassan, the head of razed Jamia Hafsa, is raising suicide bombers to target President Pervez Musharraf, she said, "It is said that we are terrorists, we are manipulating and brainwashing the students. You are terrorists who are blaming us without any proof".
She claimed that the IGP must prove his allegation, otherwise, she would move court against him. She reiterated if the construction of Jamia Hafsa was not started in the light of the Supreme Court decision, countrywide protests would be started and female students would also accompany their male students.
It is a right of madaris students to go to their religious seminaries to get education like university students.
"Without any discrimination many boys and girls were killed in front of my eyes", she claimed.
"We were against this on going system before and this operation has raised our resentment against the system", she continued.
Banners were displayed on the walls of the mosque on which the students had written their demands of reconstruction of Jamia Hafsa and rehabilitation of Jamia Faridia.
Their demands also included the release of Maulana Abdul Aziz and his reinstatement as Khateeb of Lal Masjid.
They also raised slogans like "Go Musharraf Go" and "Ghazi Tery Khoon Say Inqlab Aaey Ga, Zalmo Jawab Do Zulm Ka Hisab Do".
The students paid homage to the martyrs of Lal Masjid operation while reciting exciting poems and quoting incidents from Islamic history.
They believed the sacrifices of the innocent students for Islamic system would not go unpaid. And it is first barbaric incident of its kind in the Islamic history where even girls were not forgiven.
Emotional scenes were also witnessed while offering prayers for the martyrs and daughters, sisters and mothers of the deceased students wept for them on the first anniversary of the martyrs.
Special security measures were taken and other than policemen, 60 policewomen were also deployed in the area, which was completely cordoned off.
Metal detector was used and walkthrough gates were installed. However, no untoward incident was reported and the conference ended peacefully.
