QUETTA - At least five personnel of Frontier Corps were killed and five wounded in a landmine explosion in Marwar area on Thursday while six people injured in two different bomb blasts in Sibi and Quetta. According to reports reaching here, FC personnel were patrolling the Marwar area when their vehicle hit a landmine laid by unknown militants. The landmine exploded and killed five security personnel and wounded five others. The injured were shifted to nearby hospital for first medical aid and later they were shifted to Quetta CMH for further treatment. However, their names could not be ascertained. Soon after the incident, security officers reached the area to probe into the incident and cordoned off the area to investigate the incident. No group has claimed responsibility so far for the attack but officials believe that Baloch militant groups could be behind the planting of the landmines. In yet another bomb blast, five people were wounded after a bomb planted inside a shop went off with a big bang in Sibi town. Official sources said that unknown people had placed an explosive device inside a general store at Liaquat Bazaar, Sibi. The device exploded after shop owner closed the shop and left for home, they added. The blast caused injuries to five people who were standing near the shop. The injured were rushed to the hospital where they were identified as Muhammad Anwar, Maula Bakhsh, Lal Bakhsh and Abdul Ghaffar while the condition of Muhammad Anwar is stated to be critical. The blast badly damaged the shop and crated a three feet deep crater. Soon after the blast, police and law enforcement agencies rushed to the site and started investigation. Meanwhile, a person sustained minor injuries when a detonator of a bomb planted in cycle was exploded within jurisdiction of City Police Station Quetta, said police. Police sources said that unknown people had fitted one kilogram explosives with a bicycle, which was parked at the crowded Liaquat Bazaar at cycle stand. Sensing danger, people called police. Police and bomb disposal squad rushed to the site and defused the device. However, the detonator of bomb was exploded and injured a person identified as Hazrat Ali. Police have registered a case and started investigation.
