ISLAMABAD - Farmaish a book written on the personality and life of renowned Sufi philosopher writer and poet Wasif Ali Wasif was launched here at the National Language Authority (Muqtadra Qaumi Zaban) here on Thursday. The book launching ceremony was organised jointly by National Language Authority (NLA) and National Book Foundation (NBF). Noted intellectual and religious scholar Ahmed Javed presided over the ceremony while Chairman of NLA Iftikhar Arif was the chief guest. Aijaz-ul-Haq, Dr Akraam Chughtai and secretary NBF, Rao Mohammed Aslam were among the prominent speakers on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Ahmed Javed said that the subject of Sufism was a vast theme and it was difficult to encompass all its aspects. There is all inclusiveness in Sufism and it encompasses all aspects of religion and covers disciplines that have been derived from religion. While quoting the saying of some Sufis written in Kash-ful-Mahjob, he said that it was an irony that even when the word of Sufism did not exist, it was present factually. Now people are introduced with the word of Sufism, but it does not exist factually. The ignorant so-called Sufis of our age are not familiar with the word of Sufism. He emphasized that during those days if any Sufi in the name of Sufism asked his preachers to act upon teachings of Islam that were contradictory to the teachings of Holy Prophet (SAW) people would decline to obey him. We should not compromise on the teachings of Hazrat Mohammed (peace be upon Him) and His companions at any cost, he said. Iftikhar Arif, in his address said that he had never met Wasif Ali Wasif but he knew Wasif through his books. While quoting the saying of Hazrat Data Ganj Bukhsh Hajvari, he said that Sufism existed even when its idea wasnt introduced. Secretary NBF, Mohammed Aslam Rao thanked the audience for attending this ceremony. A short Question-Answer session was also held.
