The Trading Corporation of Pakistan decided to sell imported 25000 tonnes of sugar to create stability in sugar prices in the local markets, Geo News reported Friday. According to TCP spokesman Khizr Hayat, on the directives from Economic Coordination Committee, the TCP will sell 25000 tonnes of imported sugar in the local markets, for which tender will be issued soon. The spokesman said the TCP has signed so far agreements of the imports of 125000 tonnes of sugar, of this, 78400 tonne has already arrived in the TCP godowns. It merits mentioning this here that sugar is being sold at Rs43.40/kg in Karachi Wholesale Market; while, Rs45.46/kg are being charged in the retail market.
