BAHAWALPUR
The people of Bahawalpur have pinned high hopes on the new government regarding early solution to the national crises especially loadshedding, reveals a survey conducted by The Nation.
"The Nawaz government should give a priority to solution to energy crisis. Our all resources should be spent on energy sector. PML-N should also fulfill the promise of restoration of Bahawalpur province. Drone attack on Pakistan should be stopped. The government should fulfill its all the promises it made with the nation. Pakistan People's Party and its allies destroyed the national institutions and looted the national wealth with both hands. New government should solve the problems of inflation, loadshedding and unemployment," said various respondents of the survey conducted in Bahawalpur district.
Zakaul Hassan, an advocate of High Court, said that in a few hours after PML-N government's coming to power, drones attacked North Waziristan. "This is a test for the new leaders. Time has come for the government to fulfill its promises," he noted. Social Activist Shazia Khan said that Nawaz government should give priority to the problem of loadshedding. "Our all resources should be spent on energy sector because when energy is available, our all problems will be solved automatically. America has crossed all of her limits and Nawaz Sharif should announce end of secret agreements with the US," she demanded.
A representative of youth, Jawad Ahmed, said that the People's Party and their allies destroyed the credibility of the country and looted the national treasure with both hands. "Merit has been violated regarding important jobs and favouritism was promoted in this regard. New government should provide jobs on merit," he added.
Aleem Ahmed Khan of Cholistan Development Authority said that in the last five years, the country travelled backwards in prosperity rather than moving forward. Economy had been destabilised and the people are crying due to the price hike, he said. Journalist Taouseef Ahmed said that the new government should solve the problems of inflation, loadshedding, unemployment and drone attacks on priority basis.
The local people demanded that Pakistani people should be given relief. Restoration of Bahawalpur Province activist and former councilor Shabir Ahmed Khan said that the people of Bahawalpur gave the PML-N mandate to restore Bahawalpur province.
