KARACHI -  President Bin Qasim Association of Trade & Industry (BQATI) Amin Ali Dawood strongly urged the government to withdraw the enormous increase in Gas Infrastructure Development Cess (GIDC) per MMBTU for captive power producers and industrial consumers which had opted to go to the court of law and got a stay, this clearly depicts that even Rs.100 is unaffordable levy that was the reason industrialist went to the court for redressel. In the current Budget Rs.200/- has been added as compared to the current rate of the cess, he said, industry is unable to pay Rs 300 per MMBTU under the prevailing adverse business environment for the industry.
