Landi Kotal- Military jets pounded militants’ hideouts in Khyber Agency killing 15 terrorists, a day after Taliban-claimed attack on Karachi airport left 30 people dead.

According to ISPR, the early morning strikes were carried out in Tirah Valley of the tribal agency which borders Afghanistan.

“Military jets targeted nine hideouts in Tirah near Pak-Afghan border. At least 15 terrorists are killed,” said ISPR in a brief statement.

Thirty people were killed as security forces fought an all-night battle Monday with Taliban gunmen who besieged Karachi airport.

Ten militants were among the dead in the assault. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, which is holding peace talks with government, claimed the attack, saying that it was carried out in revenge for killing of its leader Hakimullah Mehsud and other fighters.

The last strikes were carried out in North Waziristan in late May, killing at least 75 people and stoking the migration of some 58,000 people away from the district in fear of a fuller ground-offensive that has been anticipated for years.
