LAHORE: A group of lawyers tortured a police officer in the premises of the Lahore High Court to help their client flee from the custody of police after he was denied bail in a fraud case here on Monday.

Justice Alia Neelam rejected pre-arrest bail petition of Shahzad Farooq when police produced genuine evidence of fraud committed by the suspect with a woman. After reviewing the record submitted by police, the judge rejected the pre-arrest bail of the accused.

However, as the accused came out of the courtroom, ASI Amjad along with other officials arrested him and handcuffed him but the lawyers intervened and tortured police officials and helped their client escape.

The lawyers used fists and kicks and successfully took their handcuffed client out of police custody. The police deployed at the LHC did not bother stopping the lawyers’.–Staff Reporter
