Punjab Minister for Irrigation Yawar Zaman directed that steps to control water theft and proper division of water be ensured.

He was addressing a meeting held at Commissioner Office Bahawalpur. The minister directed the officials to ensure the provision of canal water till the tail area and take strict action against the water thieves. He added that all illegal water channels (mogas) be finished immediately.

He ordered the registration of cases against the water thieves. He said that according to Canal and Drainage Section 70, canal magistrate be made more effective at tehsil level to take proper action against the water thieves. He asked for working effectively to stop water theft.

He reviewed the flood fighting plan throughout the division and said the officials to continuously monitor all the flood barriers and complete the work of maintenance of these barriers on time and also directed to eliminate the encroachments established on these dykes.

Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Captain (R) Asadullah Khan said that flood fighting plan be completed with transparency. He asked the farmers to grow their crops according to the correct cropping pattern, and added that repairing and maintenance of the canals be completed on time.

RAID. C Division Police conducted a raid in the Factory Area of Rahim Yar Khan and arrested two drug dealers along with 35 liter of liquor and an active furnace.

Station House Officer Ashraf said that for the last few days they have been receiving reports that drug dealers were brewing liquor and selling that liquor from Factory Area. The police then raided and arrested Wajid and Nasir. He further said that cases against the accused had been registered.
