PESHAWAR  - Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Professor Ibrahim Khan has strongly condemned both terrorists' attack on Karachi airport and military airstrikes in North Waziristan Agency.
Talking to media persons on Monday here at the JI Provincial Headquarter Al-Markaz-e- Islami, Prof. Ibrahim regretted the last night terrorists' attack on Karachi airport and said the issue could not be resolved through sabotage activities or military operations.
He also said that Taliban's attack on airport was condemnable and urged the militants group to avoid such anti-state acts. He also urged for early halt to military operation in North Waziristan in which innocent people were being killed. "We appeal to both sides to avoid such attacks and military operation in which innocent civilians were killed," he said and urged to come at negotiation table without any further delay.
He said after initiation of dialogue process, people had taken a sigh of relief but the government put the whole process in cold storage.
He recalled that last time they met the government negotiating committee on April 23, in which they were asked to meet Taliban Shura to convince them for a direct meeting. He said, "We fulfilled the task and after that the government's support and cooperation of the Ministry of Interior and political administration was required, which could not be provided to us."
He lamented that they tried to contact the government committee members, Ministry of Interior on phone but to no avail.
The JI KP ameer alleged that the irresponsible attitude of the government caused deadlock in talks and the negotiation process was virtually suspended. After which, he said, military assault was carried out in North Waziristan and resultantly militants also reacted and gradually situation reached to the alarming level. "Blame game is not the solution to the issue, rather both Taliban and Army should shun violence and come at negotiation table to settle the dispute," Prof Ibrahim maintained.
To a query, he said they were playing a role of negotiators but how the process could be carried forward when the respective parties were not ready to listen. Although, he said none of the group announced to end talks but still the deadlock is persisted. Prof Ibrahim Khan said that consensus had been developed on holding negotiation with the militants and the people had also felt positive impacts of the process, as law and order situation was got improved. He urged the entire nation to appeal to both sides to shun violence and resolve the issue through peaceful way of dialogues.
