A large number of people particularly women and children staged  a demonstration against low gas pressure, pelted the main gate  of Sui Gas office with bricks and stones and injured four security guards.

They also damaged many vehicles. In retaliation, the security personal also opened aerial firing to disperse the protesters. Hundreds of women from Bhatti Bhango and adjoining areas along with their children staged big demonstration. The protesters chanted slogans against the government and gas officers for not ensuring full gas supply. The women threw bricks and stones at main gate and in the premises of the office.

The police reached the spot and controlled the situation. Sources  said that  four security guards sustained injuries while many vehicles were also damaged by the protesters. Later, they also staged a sit in and said their town was deprived of gas for many months and where the facility available, the gas pressure too low to serve the purpose.

25 ROAD PROJECTS COMPLETE: Twenty five road projects out total 43 have been completed in Gujranwala Division under the Annual Development Programme at a cost of about Rs5.70 billion, while the rest of 18 projects would complete till June 30, said the division commissioner.

In a meeting with the district coordination officers, and local parliamentarians, Shamial Ahmed Khawaja said that in Gujranwala district, seven schemes at a cost of Rs3,300 million have been completed while in Hafizabad, 2 schemes with Rs3 million; in Gujrat district, two schemes with Rs207 million; in Mandi Bahauddin, four schemes with Rs592 million; in Sialkot, eight schemes with Rs898 million; and in Narowal district, two schemes at a cost of Rs409 million have been completed.

The commissioner said that RsRs1.288 billion had been allocated for 97 schemes out of which Rs2.09 billion had spent. He directed to complete all the development projects timely and said that no negligence and irresponsibility would be tolerated.
