Tribesmen demand resumption of Tirah IDPs’ registration

PESHAWAR - Demanding resumption of registration process and provision of proper transportation facilities to the Internally Displaced People (IDPs) of militancy-hit Tirah valley, Khyber Agency, scores of tribesmen Monday held a protest demonstration outside the Peshawar Press Club.
The protesting tribesmen led by Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf, Khyber Agency President Iqbal Afridi and other local leaders were holding placards and banner inscribed with slogans in favour of their demands and against the Fata Disaster Management Authority (FDMA).
The infuriated protestors also chanted full-throated slogans against the political administration and authorities concerned for failing to heal the miseries of displaced tribal families by paying due attention towards them.
Talking to the media, the PTI leader said that the tribal families hailing from Khyber Agency were confronting with immense difficulties in the makeshift camps. He said that due to lack of basic facilities in the makeshift camps most of the children and women were having health issues.
He demanded of the government to chalk out a comprehensive plan for the immediate return of internally displaced families to Tirah valley after the security forces cleared their respective areas. He asked the authorities to resume registration for IDPs and permit the tribal families to their hometowns.
The protesting tribesmen demanded of the government to reduce their miseries by ensuring resumption of registration process for IDPs and give them permission to return to their hometowns. The protesters alleged the authorities concerned of FDMA and political administration were using delaying tactics to ensure return of the IDPs to Tirah valley, whereas the authorities were also failed to provide adequate facilities to helpless refugees at temporary camp.
