MUZAFFARGARH 

Two of the five armed men who raided a bank branch in Sanawan were killed during a shootout with police while the other three made off with Rs1.6 million money here on Monday.

Meanwhile, guards Muhammad Akram, Muhammad Sharif and police constable Rafiuz Zaman were injured. They were shifted to Nishtar Hospital in view of their critical condition. SHO A D Gujjar said that the robbers raided the bank branch of National Bank of Pakistan on Kotadu Road at 10:00am.

The three robbers entered the building of the bank while the two others aided them outside. When the guards resisted, they opened fire and injured them and ran away. The police chased them up to five kilometer and finally killed them when they hid themselves in a sugarcane field. However, the robbers managed to escape. A team has been constituted for their arrest.

APCA DEMANDS PAY RAISE: The All-Pakistan Clerk Association activists went on a pen-down strike, and set up a protest camp in front of DCO Office as a protest for acceptance of their demands.

They also called for action against corrupt elements. General Secretary Fazal Hussain flayed the delaying tactics of the government in approval of time-scale. The protesters demanded implementation of the recommendations made by the pay and pension committee. They threatened countrywide protest if the government failed to further increase the government employees’ salaries.
