LAHORE    -   A meeting was held,on Thursday under the chairmanship of Capital City Police Officer Lahore DIG Bilal Siddique Kamyana at City Police Headquarters to review the performance of Gender Based Violence Cell. SP CRO Zohaib Nasrullah Ranjha, Focal Person GBV Cell Inspector Fiza, all divisional In charges, Investigation Officers and concerned officers attended the meeting. The CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana reviewed the overall performance of the Gender Based Violence Cell.

 Lahore Police Chief reprimanded the in-charges Gender Based Violence Cell for the poor performance and delay in completion of under investigation cases of rapes with women. Bilal Siddique Kamyana directed the GBV Cell related officers to improve their performance and warned as he would personally review their performance on weekly basis and strict action would be taken if there was no significant improvement shown in the performance.  Bilal Siddique Kamyana further directed to complete the investigation of gang rape cases against women on immediate basis.

Commander Lahore Police directed not to arrest the nominated accused in such cases if proved innocent and discharge the cases in case of no offense. He said that incidents of rape, harassment, violence and abuse against women are a disgraceful on the face of society which is not acceptable in any case and Lahore police condemns all forms of abuse and violence against women. Bilal Siddique Kamyana directed that the Gender Violence Cell in-charges should reach the incidents of rape of women and initiate the investigation on merit without any delay. CCPO Lahore further said that the perpetrators of rape cases should be arrested at all cost.

 Bilal Siddique Kamyana said that Punjab Police has launched Women Safety App to protect women from sexual crimes and the use of this app has given favorable results. Victim Support Officers are round the clock present at Anti Women Harassment and Violence Cell of Lahore police situated in Defense to fully support affected women including arrest of accused in all cases of violence including rape, sexual harassment and violence against women, interrogation on merit as well as court proceeding.
