Govt mulling to move ICJ against Yasin Malik’s conviction: Kaira

ISLAMABAD   -   The government is strongly considering an option to move to International Court of Justice against the conviction of senior Hurriyat leader of IIOJK Yasin Malik on fake terrorism charges by New Delhi based NIA court.


“Consultations on the matter are underway as there are several international law aspects on this conviction,” Qamar Zaman Kaira Adviser to the PM on Azad Jammu and Kashmir and GB told journalists informally in Islamabad.


He said the family of Yasin Malik is in Islamabad and they would be provided full legal assistance against the conviction of Yasin Malik by an Indian court.


He disclosed that his ministry is initiating the consultation process with the political leadership on the latest situation on Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.


Defending Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s performance  as top diplomat, Kaira said that the Foreign Minister raised and  projected the Kashmir issue  with different leaders and at different forums in the past just one month.


Kaira said that an economically stable Pakistan is imperative for helping people of Jammu and Kashmir and effectively projecting the Kashmir issue at various global forums.


He said soon the governor for GB would be appointed.
