TIMERGARA    -    A two-day training workshop on “Modern Contraceptive Methods and Family Planning Counselling” was organized by Population Welfare Department KP at Regional Training Institute (RTI) Batkhela in the Malakand division.  A total of 100 technical field staff from all the seven districts of the Malakand division were trained following Council of Common Interest recommendations.

Addressing the concluding session Dr Ghazala Haider, Dr Aliya and principal RTI Batkhela Syed Usman shed light on different topics related to family planning, reproductive health and child care. In order to harness the exponential growth, the Government of Pakistan had initiated various programs at federal, provincial, district and tehsil levels, they informed.

Syed Usman informed that RTI offered a two-year technical diploma in contraceptive technologies, mother and child health care, and reproductive health. The institute was established in 2015 to meet training requirements for the officials of the entire Malakand division including seven districts, he said adding that it had been rendering valuable services by equipping students with both technical and non-technical knowledge in line with Population Welfare Department (PWD) program.

Syed Usman said that previously the aspirants belonging to the far-flung areas faced multiple hardships in connection with the training as they had to go to the institutes in Peshawar and Abbottabad.
