Sindh Home Minister chairs meeting regarding flood arrangements ahead of monsoon

NAWABSHAH  -  Sindh Minister for Home, Law, and Parliamentary Affairs, Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, chaired a high-level meeting here on Monday to review the flood situation and drainage arrangements ahead of the upcoming monsoon season.

The meeting was held at Darbar Hall of Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Shaheed Benazirabad.

Prominent attendees included Deputy Commissioner Abdul Samad Nizamani, SSP Shabbir Ahmed Sethar, Mayor Qazi Rasheed Bhatti, PPP District President Muhammad Salem Zardari, Deputy Mayor Mubashir Arain, Chairman TMC H.M. Khoja Syed Atif Zaidi, Chairman TMC  Old Nawabshah Muhammad Hayat Kakepota, and Municipal Commissioner Abdul Razzaq Sheikh.

Officers from Public Health, LBOD, Irrigation, Municipal Corporation, HESCO, and other relevant departments, along with PPP leaders Syed Ali Haider Shah, Khan Bahadur Bhatti, and Rashid Chandio were also present. Briefings were given on pre-monsoon preparedness and drainage projects across Shaheed Benazirabad. The participants reviewed the measures already taken to tackle expected rainfall. Minister emphasized that the Sindh government has developed a comprehensive plan to deal with the monsoon rains. He directed all relevant departments to complete their preparations in advance and ensure that all machinery is fully operational.

He instructed all departments to ensure complete cleaning of storm water drains and drainage systems and to keep all pumping stations functional. However Minister expressed dissatisfaction over the low performance of the Municipal Commissioner and stressed that uninterrupted electricity supply must be maintained by HESCO during the rains. He warned that officials showing negligence or poor performance would be removed from their posts. Deputy Commissioner Abdul Samad Nizamani informed the Minister that district-level meetings are being held to ensure preparedness against the monsoon rains.
