2 killed, 10 injured in blast near Quetta’s Balochistan University

Two policemen have been killed and 10 people injured in a blast near Quetta’s Balochistan University, Waqt News reported.

Around 2:30 pm a huge blast was heard on Sariab Road where the university is located. Eyewitnesses confirmed that the explosion took place near the university gate

Reports suggest that the actual target was the police check post near the university. Rescue and police teams were dispatched to the site.

According to police, a time bomb weighing two kilograms detonated near the check post.

President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif have strongly condemned the Quetta blast. In their separate statements, they prayed for the departed souls and expressed sympathies with the bereaved families.

They directed the authorities concerned to provide best possible medical treatment to those injured in the despicable incident. Balochistan Chief Minister also took notice of the incident and directed the authorities to submit a report at earliest.

Balochistan Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti who visited the site said the blast would be investigated from all angles.
