AJK Parliament condemns Indian brutality in Kashmir

Joint session seeks UNO role for early resolution of issue

MIRPUR (AJK)-The joint session of both the houses of the AJK Parliament - the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and the upper house AJK Council Friday vehemently condemned the massive human rights violations and extrajudicial killing of innocent Kashmiris by the Indian army in Occupied Kashmir. They termed such acts as highly deplorable and condemnable.
AJK LA Deputy Speaker Sardar Farooq Ahmed Tahir presided over the joint session.
“Such acts are a violation of fundamental human rights of Kashmiris and cannot deter the people of Jammu and Kashmir from their demand for the realization of the right to self-determination,” the joint session said through a unanimously passed resolution.
The joint session also condemned the detention of Kashmiri leadership in the Occupied Kashmir and called upon the Indian government to fulfil its human rights obligations as well as its commitments under the United Nations Security Council Resolutions.
The session reiterated that the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute is only possible through the realisation of the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, as per the UNSC resolutions, through a fair and impartial plebiscite under UN auspices.
The session expressed its serious concern over the deteriorating situation in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir particularly over the past 60 days and urged international community to take serious note of Indian state terrorism in the held territory.
The resolution strongly condemned the massive human rights abuses by Indian occupied forces of the peaceful Kashmiris struggling for their inalienable right to self-determination. It also hailed the Kashmir Policy of the Federal government and lauded Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif for adopting unequivocal and courageous stance on Kashmir which has not only boosted morale of the people of Jammu and Kashmir but also gave a new impetus to Kashmir liberation struggle.
The house also expressed complete solidarity with the people of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and assured them that people and governments of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir would never leave them alone in their just struggle.
The house demanded the UN to implement its resolutions on Kashmir and give Kashmiris their right to self-determination through free, fair and transparent plebiscite.
The joint session also condemned the Indian prime minister Modi’s statements about Balochistan and Gilgit/Biltastan and declared it interference in Pakistan’s affairs.
Addressing the joint session, AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan said that Kashmir liberation movement has entered a crucial stage and India has miserably failed to suppress this indigenous struggle. Raja Farooq Haider thanked PM Nawaz Sharif for highlighting Kashmir issue in its true perspective at international fora. He also thanked AJK President Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan and Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Chaudhry Barjees Tahir for addressing the joint session of AJK Legislative Assembly and Council.
