GUJRAT-Punjab Law and Parliamentary Affairs Secretary Dr Syed Abdul Hassan Najmi lauded the progress made on the Punjab laws Urdu translation project during a meeting with a delegation of the University of Gujrat (UoG) headed by its Vice Chancellor Dr Ziaul Qayyum.
“We are completely satisfied with the progress on the project and assure full cooperation of the department to the translators for timely completion of the project,” Dr Najmi said.
“The project of Urdu translation of Punjab laws is being carried out as a national duty and no effort will be spared for the successful accomplishment of the task,” Dr Ziaul Qayyum declared.
The UoG VC emphasised that it is essential that laws should be made accessible to the common man for intellectual awareness.
The translation project is part of a deal between the UoG’s Centre for Languages and Translation Studies and the Punjab Law and Parliamentary Affairs’ Department.
Dr Zia was accompanied by Director CeLTS Dr Ghulam Ali, Director Media Sheikh Abdul Rashid, Translators Prof Javed Iqbal, Prof Rashidullah Butt, Zahir Baqir Baloch, Almir Daniel, Mohiuddin and Mubashir Hussain.
Additional secretary and deputy secretaries (Law) were also present at the meeting.
