US Senate delegation arrives

ISLAMABAD   -  A four-member delegation of the US Senate Armed Services Committee, led by Senator Angus King, arrived on an official visit to Pakistan.

Official sources confirmed the visit by US lawmakers and said the delegation during its stay in Islamabad would interact with Pakistan civil and military leadership on issues related to bilateral defence cooperation, regional security situation and situation in Afghanistan.

The delegation will call on Prime Minister Imran Khan, Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and other senior officials and parliamentarians.

The delegation would also be briefed by senior officials about Pak-India relations and the latest situation in IIOJK. 

The delegation would also be taken into confidence about threatening statements from Indian top leaders against Pakistan.

The sources said a comprehensive briefing would also be given to the delegation about role Pakistan played in the peace and stability of the region in the context of Afghanistan.

The US Senate delegation is visiting Pakistan at a time when bilateral relations between the two countries are going through lowest level.

Pakistan also took the decision a day before not to attend the global virtual democracy summit hosted by the US President
