217 road accidents land 745 in Polyclinic

islamabad - Over-excitement and carelessness marred the Eid celebrations of over 200 families in the federal capital as their loved ones met minor to fatal traffic accidents during the four days of Eid-ul-Fitr.

According to details, hundreds of road-users got injured in at least 217 traffic accidents who were brought to the emergency department of the Polyclinic Hospital from July 5 to July 8, said the hospital and traffic police sources. They said a total of 745 patients were brought to the emergency department of Polyclinic on July 5 including those who were injured in 35 road traffic accidents in the day.

Similarly, 85 traffic accidents were recorded on July 6, 54 traffic accidents on July 7 and 43 were recorded on July 8, making it 217 in total. However no major loss of life was reported in the mishaps. The traffic police sources attributed high number of accidents to over-excitement and carelessness.

Furthermore, Islamabad police arrested nine outlaws from various areas of the city and recovered stolen bike, gold ornaments and valuables from them, a police spokesman said yesterday. He said, Ramna police arrested accused Kamran Ashraf, resident of Dhoke Kashmirain, Rawalpindi, and recovered looted gold ornaments, prize bonds and cash from him. Kamran during investigations admitted his involvement in five robberies in the areas of Ramana police station. Police team also arrested another accused Sohail involved in a bike theft and recovered the stolen bike from him. CIA police arrested a fraudster Muhammad Amin. Koral police arrested six persons including four girls for their alleged involvement in immoral activities. Cases have been registered against these nabbed persons and further investigation is under way
