Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Barrister Gohar, has strongly criticized the federal government following the announcement of the 2025–26 budget, calling it a failure on both economic and reform fronts.
In an exclusive interview with Dunya News, Gohar stated that despite months of political manoeuvring and backdoor dealings, the government has failed to deliver on its promises or achieve any meaningful progress.
“Pakistan’s economic growth remains the lowest among developing nations,” he said, adding that key areas such as structural reforms, pension reform, and privatization of state-owned enterprises have seen "zero progress."
Gohar emphasized the need to depoliticize the economy, saying, “Politics must be separated from the economy. The government should act on PTI’s constructive proposals instead of relying on cosmetic fixes.”
PTI to Launch Nationwide Protests
The PTI chairman also announced the party’s decision to launch a countrywide protest campaign in response to what he described as “economic mismanagement and anti-people policies.” However, unlike previous demonstrations, he clarified that the campaign will not march toward Islamabad.
“This movement will be across the country. A massive number of people will participate,” he declared, hinting at strong public resentment over inflation, unemployment, and declining living standards.
The announcement signals a renewed wave of political mobilization by PTI amid growing public dissatisfaction with the government’s economic performance. The protests are expected to put further pressure on the ruling coalition as it struggles to stabilize the economy and implement its reform agenda.
