LAHORE - The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Cricket West Indies (CWI) are in early talks to revise the structure of their upcoming bilateral series by scrapping the three scheduled One Day Internationals (ODIs), sources confirmed on Tuesday. Pakistan are set to tour the West Indies in July and August for a white-ball series comprising three T20 Internationals and three ODIs. The T20Is are scheduled for July 31, August 2, and August 3 in Broward County, Florida, while the ODIs are set for August 8, 10, and 12 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad. However, both boards are now considering replacing the ODIs with additional T20Is. The discussions are reportedly driven by a strategic focus on the shortest format ahead of two major tournaments, the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025, which will be played in T20 format, and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2026. According to sources, the move aims to allow both sides to fine-tune their squads, build combinations, and gain crucial match practice in T20 cricket. This wouldn’t be the first instance of such a revision. Earlier this year, the PCB and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had agreed to drop an ODI series in favor of additional T20Is for similar preparatory reasons, although they later reverted to a three-match T20I series due to regional tensions. An official announcement regarding the final schedule for the Pakistan-West Indies series is expected in the coming weeks.
