Nadra officer arrested in Sharbat Gula case

PESHAWAR: The Federal Investigation Agency arrested former National Database and Regulatory Authority (Nadra) Assistant Director Imad Khan for involvement in Afghan woman Sharbat Gula’s case.

The former Nadra employee had gone into hiding, FIA officials said.

For giving a fake national identity card to Sharbat Gula three Nadra officials are being tried in court.

Two other accused in the case have been granted bail.

Sharbat Guley, who shot to fame after her photograph as a young refugee was published on the cover of National Geographic magazine back in 1985, was deported to Afghanistan from Pakistan on Wednesday.

The FIA arrested her from Nauthia, Peshawar, on the charges of possessing fake Pakistani CNIC.
