Pak teams lose in AFC U-14 soccer





ISLAMABAD - It was not a good day for Pakistan as both teams lost their opening day matches against their respective opponents of the AFC Under-14 (Boys) Festival of football played at Jinnah Stadium on Wednesday.
Pakistan fielded two sides Pakistan and Pakistan A, a total of six matches were played. In the first match Tajikistan defeated Pakistan 1-0. Pakistan though played well but its forwards let them down by missing numerous goal scoring opportunities. Tajikistan scored the goal in the 20th minute through forward Akmed Jaffer that proved the lone goal of the match.
Pakistani youngsters tried their level best to equalize but they fail to do so and had to content with a 1-0 defeat.
In the second match Afghanistan defeated  Pakistan A 1-0 in the last minute of the normal time as their forward Sher Ahmed Hussaini scored in the 30th minute to secure victory for Afghanistan.
In the third match of the day, Tajikistan beat Pakistan-A 2-0. Sharipor scored both the goals for the winners in the 15th minute 22nd minutes. 
In the fourth match, Pakistan and Afghanistan teams played out a tame 0-0 draw, the morning session of the matches ended with this match.
In the fifth match Pakistan seniors thrashed A team 3-0 despite missing a penalty. Shahzaib opened the scoring in the 17th minute despite missing a penalty in the 19th minutes. Hassam doubled  the lead in the 26th minute before Muneer completed the tally in the 28th minute to win the match 3-0.
In the last match, Afghanistan and Tajikistan played out an entertaining 0-0 draw. Both teams tried their level best to break the ice but had to settle for a draw.
Earlier the opening ceremony was started with the passing out parade of the participating teams - Pakistan, Pakistan A, Tajikistan and Afghanistan -  the opening ceremony was witnessed by a large gathering present to witness the matches. 
Paul Molloy, Deputy High Commissioner Australian Embassy was the chief guest. Speaking at the occasion he said, encouraging youngster of either sex involved themselves in sports activities is the main aim of the Australian Sports Outreach Programme (ASOP) and they also hope that the PFF's initiatives would have important spill-over effects on the wider community, such as promoting health and sporting activities for the enhancement of sports activity among our youths, he concluded.
AFC's Project Manager John Vittal said:  “I would like to advice the participating teams to take advantage of this opportunity to strengthen friendly relations with each other for developing new skills through such a festival.
General Secretary, PFF, Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi TI (M) said that AFC U-14 (Boys) Festival of Football will benefit the Pakistani game and I would like to thank AFC for providing this opportunity to Pakistan and am hopeful that this would boost PFF drive for improvement of football in the country”.
