IGP urged to take notice of irresponsible police behaviour with journalists

QUETTA - Balochistan Union of Journalists (BUJ), while expressing concern over ban on the entry of journalists in Red Zone area of Quetta, has called on Inspector General of Police, Balochistan to take notice of the irresponsible behaviour of police officers and officials posted in Red Zone area with journalists and common citizens and take strict disciplinary proceedings against the responsible souls, otherwise the option of boycotting press conferences and other events of police authorities would be considered. 

In a statement issued here on Friday, BUJ strongly condemned the irresponsible behaviour of police with journalists in Red Zone area of Quetta. It said that earlier the attention of high-ups of police department had been diverted towards the irresponsible behaviour of police with journalists, but no action was taken. Statement further said that journalists visit Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Governor’s Secretariat, Balochistan Civil Secretariat and other officers for gathering and reporting news, but they were being stopped from performing their journalistic duties.
