Three-day anti-polio drive kicks off

MULTAN - Punjab Auqaf Minister Haji Ehsan Uddin Qureshi has claimed that Multan has become a polio-free district, saying this milestone was achieved because of revolutionary leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. He was talking to the journalists after kicking off three-day anti polio drive here on Saturday. He said that the Punjab Government was determined to give the province a healthy generation and therefore all out efforts were being made to provide healthcare facilities to the masses. He stressed upon doctors and media to make the masses aware of importance of polio vaccination. He asked the parents to get their children vaccinated without any fear as it would prevent their children from permanent disability. He further stressed upon the NGOs to play their role in guiding the masses. He directed EDO Health to get the polio drive publicized through loudspeakers of masjids. The EDO health Dr Inamul Haq told the minister on this occasion that a total of 1741 teams were formed to vaccinate over 600,000 children below the age of five in Multan district. He said that out of total 1741 teams, as many as 1451 were mobile while another 134 were deployed at all bus and railway stations, hospitals, dispensaries, exit and entry points of city.
