Reckless driving

Through your newspaper, I would like to draw the attention of the authorities concerned towards the increasing number of road accidents in Pakistan. Road accidents are on the rise in our big cities as well as in rural areas, where the causes of the accidents may be the state of poor roads.

Every year, almost 8000 in average accidents take place in which 4000 people in average are killed and 9000 people in average are injured. Person sitting on the steering wheel does not seem to have any regards for the traffic rules. Over speeding, skipping red lights and over taking from the wrong side is normal practice. In most cases, those who flout the law escapes unpunished due to their social status and our corrupte bureaucracy. The time has come to start a movement against reckless driving.
