Fata blasts kill soldier, injure three

PESHAWAR - At least one soldier was killed and three others were injured in two separate bomb blasts in different areas of Fata on Sunday.
Three soldiers sustained injuries in a remote-controlled bomb blast in North Waziristan Agency. According to military officials, the blast took place near Khajuri Post when vehicle of the security forces convoy hit an IED planted by militants on a roadside.
The IED was detonated with a remote-controlled device. Three soldiers were injured in the blast and the vehicle was badly damage.  Following the incident, forces cordoned off the area and started a search operation. The injured were shifted to military hospital in Miranshah.  This is the second such attack on security forces in the agency as on Thursday last, at least nine FC men were killed and several others injured when an IED exploded near forces convoy on Ghulam Khan-Miranshah Road in North Waziristan Agency
Meanwhile, the curfew continued for third consecutive day on Sunday in North Waziristan Agency. The local political administration had imposed curfew in the agency after killing of nine FC personnel in a roadside bomb blast on Ghulam Khan-Miranshah Road.
According to security sources, all the routes leading to the agency have also been blocked. The areas under curfew include Bannu-Miranshah Road, Razmik Road, Ghulam Khan Road and Dattakhel and Tal Mir Ali Road.
AFP adds: A roadside bomb killed one paramilitary trooper and injured four others Sunday in Bajaur Agency near the Afghan border, security officials said. The bomb went off in the Kitkoot area 16 miles northwest of Khar, which is the main town in the Bajaur tribal district. The officials said the vehicle used by the paramilitary troops was on a routine patrol when hit by the blast. Roadside bombs are often used by the Pakistani Taliban, which rose up against the state in 2007. More than 6,800 people have been killed in bomb and gun attacks since then, according to an AFP tally.
