LAHORE   -  Punjab Law Minister Basharat Raja has said that on the directions of Chief Minister Usman Bazdar, as many as 29,950 employees of various departments — waiting for their promotion since long — has been elevated to higher grades.

In a meeting held at the Civil Secretariat under the chairmanship of the law minister, a special committee formed by the chief minister for this issue reviewed the matter and approved the upgradation.

According to the details, 14,387 warders of the Prisons Department have been upgraded from grade 5 to 7. Similarly, 1,520 head warders have been upgraded from grade 7 to 9, and 162 chief warders have been upgraded from grade 9 to 11.

Moreover, 49 religious teachers posted in the same department have been promoted from grade 12 to 15. The committee also elevated the grade of 373 telephone operators of different departments from BPS 7 to 11. It also gave approval to the promotion of  11,184 drivers from grade 4 to 5. Similarly, the promotion of 695 supervisors of Social Welfare Department from grade 9 to 11 was approved. The promotion of 928 watchers and 30 head watchers of Forest Department from grade 5 and 7 to 9 was also aproved.

Similarly, the promotion of 162 wild inspectors of Forest Department from grade 9 to 11 was also approved. Promotion of two physical instructors of the same department from grade 8 to 9 was also approved. Furthermore, the committee upgraded 458 caretakers of Punjab Higher Education Department from grade 9 to 11. 

The meeting was also attended among others by senior officers of departments concerned including Punjab additional chief secretary, additional chief secretary (home), and Law and Secretary Finance secretary
