ISLAMABAD   -  A Pakistan Army soldier, Lance Naik Adil Jan, serving the UN mission in Darfur embraced shahadat while on duty. 

According to a press statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) directorate, 38-year-old Lance Naik Adil Jan of FC Balochistan, resident of Lakki Marwat was part of the UN mission in Darfur with the responsibility of protecting civilians and facilitating humanitarian assistance. So far 161 Pakistani peacekeepers have laid their lives as part of global peace missions for international peace and stability, said the ISPR further.

At least one terrorist was killed and 6 others were apprehended in a security operation in North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said media wing of the military on Saturday.

It said the security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Hassu Khel, Mir Ali, North Waziristan district, on reported presence of terrorists. “During intense exchange of fire with terrorists, 1 terrorist got killed and 6 terrorists were apprehended,” said a press statement issued by the ISPR. It further said that a cordon and search operation followed the operation so as to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area.
